Gift from an Eagle
By:
Marjorie King

Millie Fee was camping on her parcel in Mt. Shasta Vista subdivision last summer. Millie was up before the sun and off to her favorite fishing spot (sorry, can't tell you where that is!). As she sat waiting for the big one to bite she saw a Bald Eagle swoop down to the water and snag a trout. As the noble bird beat his massive wings toward the sky the trout slipped from his claw. A few seconds later Millie felt a tug on her line. When she reeled in the biggest trout she caught that day, there was the imprint of the eagle's claw!

Millie brought her catch and the strange fish tale with her to my house. As we cooked the eagle's gift we discussed signs and omens and speculated on what sort of sign this was. Millie believes that it was a message to her that she would soon be the recipient of other wondrous gifts. A few weeks later Millie and her husband Bill became grand parents.
